Transparency is crucial and every brand needs to be prepared to answer complex questions about their supply chain. Where does our cotton come from? What are the working and production conditions like? Transparency is the foundation of what we do here at SURU STUDIOS and is reflected in every aspect of the label.
All of our sweatshirts and hoodies have coordinates on the shoulder that represent our production site in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The selection of materials and their respective production facilities are also carefully checked. All of our pieces are made from 100% organic cotton and are GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and OEKO-TEX® 100 certified. Our raw cotton is harvested locally in Bangladesh, where it is spun into yarn. This yarn is then brought to the production facilities, knitted into fabric panels, and then dyed. To keep transport to a minimum, accessories such as our maxi canvas bag are made from 100% organic cotton in China. Unlike most of our products, which are made from organic cotton, our hats are made from 100% Merino wool from Austria, which is processed into yarn and dyed in China under fair production conditions. Merino wool is BSCI and RWS certified. What are BSCI and RWS? BSCI stands for Business Social Compliance Initiative. Wherever you see this label, the companies who process the materials used to make the product are subject to a code of conduct that ensures that high standards are adhered to. The Responsible Wool Standard ensures the welfare of sheep is taken into account and best soil management and protection practices are employed by companies. This means practices such as mulesing are strictly prohibited.
